Breast Reduction at Cosmetic Surgery Associates of New York
New breast reduction techniques involve using liposuction to reduce the size of large, heavy or sagging breasts. Your surgeon will make a small incision in either the armpit or in the crease under the breast. Through this incision, the doctor will insert a long, narrow tube called a cannula, which will be used to break up fatty tissues. Once the excess fat has been removed, the breast size will be decreased and the surrounding skin will eventually shrink to fit its new contours. Though this technique cannot be used to achieve substantial reduction in breast volume, it can provide relief for many women while leaving only two small, inconspicuous scars in appropriately selected patients.

We frequently recommend the procedure to young women who are in the early stages of the physical and emotional complications associated with having excessively large breasts.
Depending on the amount of tissue and skin to be removed, your breast reduction surgeon at the Cosmetic Surgery Associates of New York can employ different incision techniques including the lollipop (incision around the areola and down the breast vertically) and anchor (around the areola, down the breast and along the breast crease). The incision patterns are similar to those of a breast lift, with the difference being that a reduction procedure removes more breast tissue while improving breast shape.
