About Dr. Smith Dr. Smith is an Orange County plastic and reconstructive surgeon. Dr. Smith received his training in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of California, Los Angeles, a school reputed to have one of the top plastic surgery programs in the country. Dr. Smith had the opportunity to sharpen his skills under the tutelage of many well-known plastic surgeons in the Beverly Hills and Los Angeles areas. He also worked with some physicians who are members of the extreme makeover team. One of the highlights of Dr. Smith’s time as chief resident at UCLA was his involvement in the separation of conjoined Guatemalan twins. The surgery, lasting nearly 24 hours, was highly successful and has become the prototype for other operations of its kind. The intense media coverage of the procedure included segments on the Today show and Good Morning America and front page articles in the New York Times and the Los Angeles Times. Dr. Smith is on staff at several hospitals including Orange Coast Memorial Medical Center, Irvine Regional Medical Center and Saddleback Memorial Medical Center.
