Ann Arbor Gynecomastia Treatment
Overdeveloped male breast tissue, called gynecomastia, can be embarrassing for any man. This condition may be caused by hormonal or environmental changes. This is a common problem among men, even for those who have a normal body weight. Dr. Pramit Malhotra is highly skilled and experienced in male breast reduction. This procedure creates a more masculine chest contour by removing fat tissue and any excess skin for a firm, flat appearance. Male breast reduction surgery also may help relieve self-consciousness.
The procedure involves making a small half-moon incision. The fibrous underneath the nipple that can be felt as a firm mass is completely removed. A liposuction cannula is then used to sculpt the chest wall. Tissue can be strategically left to enhance the shape of the chest muscle below. After surgery you will have a wrap placed around your chest to apply pressure. Patients take between 4 to 9 days off of work for this procedure depending on their occupation. Dr. Malhotra does not use a separate incision for a drainage tube. This allows for a faster recovery.
